America expects the media ignoring and downplaying the dangers of “rogue prosecutors,” who ask for excessively low bail, to finally step up and report on the problem, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) said Wednesday.

In a post on its Facebook page, FOP cited a recent tragedy in Wisconsin, in which a driver ran over attendees at a Christmas parade, killing at least six and injuring more than 40 others. The suspect, now under arrest, was out on $1,000 cash bail regarding a previous charge:

“What happened in Waukesha horrified law-abiding citizens communities across the country. To the folks in the media who have been playing down the dangerous policies of rogue prosecutors for far too long, we implore you to comprehend the public outrage. The growing public concern over #BailReform should indicate to the media that they can no longer turn a blind eye to this issue and that America expects them to report on it!“

“The state’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges,” the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office admitted Monday via a statement announcing it had launched an internal investigation into the matter.

On Twitter, the FOP has posted video from 2019, in which it warned that “rogue prosecutors, activist judges, and radical policies” would cause a crime crisis in America:

“What many are saying now, we were saying 718 days ago. In December of 2019, FOP leaders from across the country met at the White House to sound the alarm about the looming #CrimeCrisis in America caused by rogue prosecutors, activist judges, and radical policies like #BailReform.”
