(CNS News) — Although Twitter, run by left-wing CEO Jack Dorsey, censored the New York Post’s blockbuster Oct. 14 story about Hunter Biden’s laptop and the alleged pay-for-play activities of Joe Biden, during testimony before Congress Dorsey admitted that he did not have any evidence to show that the story, emails, photos, and video in The Post story were “Russian disinformation.”

Twitter had claimed that the materials in the story may have been “hacked,” and this caused them to block the story and prevent it from being shared. Facebook followed a similar policy and suppressed the story on its platform. Democratic congressmen and liberal news outlets were claiming the laptop story was Russian disinformation.

Two weeks after Twitter censored the New York Post, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee questioned Dorsey, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai under oath about their restriction of information important to conservatives and their liability shield.

During the hearing, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) said, “Okay. For both Mr. Zuckerberg and Dorsey who censored — censored the New York Post stories or throttled them back — do either one of you have any evidence that the New York Post story is part of Russian disinformation or that those emails aren’t authentic? Do any of you have any–any information whatsoever they are not authentic or that they are Russian disinformation? Mr. Dorsey?

Dorsey said, “We — we don’t.”

The exchange continued,

Sen. Johnson: “You don’t know, so why would you censor it? Why did you prevent that from being disseminated on your platform that is supposed to be for the free expression of ideas and particularly true ideas?”

Jack Dorsey: “We believed (INAUDIBLE) hacking materials policy we judge–“

Sen. Johnson: “Well what evidence did you have that it was hacked? They were intact.”

Jack Dorsey: We judged the moment it looked like it was hacked material.”

Sen. Johnson: “You were wrong.”

Jack Dorsey: “… and we updated our policy and our enforcement within 24 hours.”

Sen. Johnson: “Mr. Zuckerman–Zuckerberg?”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg: “Senator, as I testified before, we relied heavily on the FBI intelligence and alerts to us — both through their public testimony and private briefings — and alerts they gave us.”

Sen. Johnson: “Did the FBI contact to you and say the New York Post story was false?”

Mark Zuckerberg: “Senator, not about that story specifically–“

Sen. Johnson: “Why did you throttle it back?”

Mark Zuckerberg: “They [FBI] alerted us of a–to be on heightened alert around a risk of hack and leak operations around a release (INAUDIBLE) information–“

As JusttheNews.com and other media have recently reported, the FBI obtained the Biden laptop, a separate hard drive, and related paperwork in December 2019.

Last week, the Sinclair Broadcast Group and the New York Post reported that Hunter Biden is under investigation for actions related to alleged money laundering. However, that claim has not been confirmed on the record by Department of Justice officials.
