On Tuesday, the US Senate voted on two pro-life measures that would have taken some great steps to saving lives. Senate Bill 311, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, failed in a 56-41 vote. Senate Bill 3275, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act failed 53-44. Both bills needed the support of 60 members of the Senate to pass the cloture motion bringing the bills to the floor.
In the case of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection act, all Republicans and three Democrats supported the measure. Bob Casey, Doug Jones, and Joe Manchin sided with Republicans to support the measure. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar all were absent for the vote on the measure. The bill requires that any child who is born alive, surviving an abortion, be treated as any other patient and admitted immediately to the hospital.
Various Republicans spoke out in support of the bill. One particular was Sen. Ben Sasse who commented that leaving a child to die in this situation is unacceptable. Yes, the absence of this bill allows a medial professional to watch a child die that survives abortion. It’s absolutely sickening that we would see this happen in our country, but it is the truth.
In the case of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Sen. Casey and Manchin voted to support the bill, while Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voted no. The three Democrats running for the presidency also missed this vote. This bill was proposed by Sen. Lindsey Graham and aimed to prevent abortions after 20 weeks gestation.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said that the bills were “fake, dishonest and extreme legislation.” Yes, he thinks that attempting to save the life of a child that is lying on a table is fake, dishonest and extreme. Sen. Lindsey Graham commented that the US should not be in the club of nations that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks. The US is one of seven nations that allows such measures.
The majority of American oppose abortion after 5 months, 55% in fact in a most recent poll. In other polls, 77% of Americans believe that babies born alive should be protected and provided healthcare. Pro-life advocates were vocal about the outcome on various social media outlets.

BREAKING 2 pro-life bills & countless children have been KILLED by Senate Dems The Born-Alive bill that mandates care to newborns who survive abortions & The Pain-Capable bill that bans the killing of children after 20 wks, around when they can survive outside of the womb RT!
This is just the latest in which the Democrats are more insistent about their agenda than serving the will of the American people. The Democrats would like to argue that the “majority of American’s didn’t elect Donald Trump.” They make the argument that he is illegitimate. But does this make Democrats illegitimate Senators? It’s apparent the majority of American’s do not want late term abortion or to let babies die on a counter.
It’s absolutely sickening to think about honestly. We are a nation that wants to claim we promote life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but we cannot let a child who is born alive even enjoy the basic principle of life. Shame on these Democrats for their spineless vote and disregard for the American people. The voters in these districts should pay attention. These members of Congress are not concerned with what you want, only what their special interest groups want.
