Pelosi Is Asked Repeatedly if She Denounces Socialism, Her Answer Says It All

While we’re still trying to figure out the presidential election, the American people did make one message perfectly clear on Election Day: they were not big fans of socialism.

More moderate Democrats chewed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) out over their being associated with socialism after the results came in. Some made it plain they felt that hurt the chances of Democrats to win in the House in a leaked House caucus phone call.

From Fox News:

The subject of socialism is apparently becoming a growing concern among Democrats behind closed doors. A leaked recording from a Democratic caucus call showed Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., suggesting that socialism, in addition to “defund the police” rhetoric, were to blame for several congressional defeats as their GOP opponents used the ideology as a bludgeon.

“We want to talk about funding social services, and ensuring good engagement in community policing, let’s talk about what we are for. And we need to not ever use the words ‘socialist’ or ‘socialism’ ever again,” Spanberger is heard saying in the recording obtained by The Washington Post. “Because while people think it doesn’t matter, it does matter. And we lost good members because of it.”

So one would think that given that concern expressed by her members and the American people that Pelosi might be very clear when asked about socialism, right? Especially since she’s seeking another term as Speaker of the House.

But not so much.

According to Fox, Pelosi has refused to denounce socialism after Fox has asked repeatedly in multiple phone calls to her office whether she opposes the ideology or whether would let socialists hold leadership positions in the House.

In 2019, she was willing to say that socialism was “not the view” of her party. Now in 2020, she’s no longer willing to say that. That’s how much traction the socialist wing has gained in the Democratic Party in a year when she’s no longer willing to publicly even say that’s not what the party is about. It literally means that is what the party is about, that the socialists are dictating now.

She wants to be speaker again, so she must kowtow to the socialist wing in order to get enough votes.
