“The Supreme Court obviously on the top of the mind of voters, especially today. You have made it real clear you don’t want to talk about packing the court until after election day. But what about for undecided voters who want to know your position on possibly expanding the court before they cast their ballot?” WKRC-TV in Cincinnati reporter Kyle Inskeep asked the candidate.
“What I want to keep the focus on is I respectfully suggest that court packing is going on now,” Biden answered. “Never before, when an election has already begun and millions of votes are already cast, has it ever been — a Supreme Court nominee was put forward? That never happened before.”
“I’ve already spoken on [the topic]. I’m not a fan of court packing,” Biden revealed.
In another interview, Biden told a reporter the court packing question is only an issue “because you guys are fascinated with it.”
“But I don’t want to get off on that whole issue,” the candidate quickly moved on. “I want to keep focus. The president would love nothing better than to fight about whether I would in fact pack the [Supreme] Court or not pack the Court, etc. The focus is why is he doing what he is doing now. Why now with less than 24 days to go in the election.”
“The hearing is going to take place and there are only going to be 10 days or whatever it is before the vote takes place. That’s the court packing the public should be focused on,” Biden said.
