During his weekly press briefing, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy responded to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s comments about “dismantling” systems of oppression in America, using her life story to illustrate why he thinks she’s wrong.
“Imagine to have a country in the world that would bring a family in,” he said. “That lived in a refugee camp but come to America to become citizens. And in the first generation, get elected to Congress. Would you want to dissolve that nation?”
