(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said on Tuesday that President-elect Joe Biden’s selection of former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg to be secretary of Transportation was an “historic appointment.”
Buttigieg, a homosexual, is married to Chasten Buttigieg.
“President-elect Biden, in nominating Mayor Pete Buttigieg as Transportation Secretary, has selected a leader with the vision and innovative spirit to Build Back Better,” said Pelosi.
Pelosi indicated that congressional Democrats are looking forward to working with Buttigieg in a way that, among other things, “combats the climate crisis with a focus on environmental justice.”
“Congratulations to Mayor Buttigieg and to President-elect Biden for breaking ground with this historic appointment,” said Pelosi. “House Democrats look forward to working with Secretary-designate Buttigieg in this mission.”
