(CNS News) — While some American Catholics support Joe Biden for president and some support Donald Trump, Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland urged Catholics to decide whether they truly support what the church teaches and to “vote according to the TRUTH!”

In an Oct. 15 tweet, Bishop Strickland, head of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, wrote, “Catholics … make your decision. Do you believe what the Catechism teaches on life, marriage, sexual morality & the freedom of religion or not?”

(Twitter.)

“If you do believe in what our faith teaches this must guide your vote at the local, state & national level,” he added.  “Vote according to the TRUTH!

In a similar tweet, from Oct. 10, Bishop Strickland wrote, “The Church, the Republican Party, & the Democratic Party have diminished as we let go of core values. I look to JESUS CHRIST as my Lord & Savior. He will guide us to LIFE & LIBERTY.”

(Twitter.)

“I beg even those who have no faith, return to the core values of LIFE, LIBERTY & JUSTICE FOR ALL,” wrote the bishop.
