President Maduro said Venezuela has detained two American citizens working with a U.S. military veteran allegedly involved in a plot to enter the South American country and oust him https://t.co/0ngHr7dQV6 https://t.co/mm5nsiQLu7

Former U.S. Army Green Beret Jordan Goudreau said that the two Americans were part of a group of 60 that were captured. According to The Washington Post, he identified the Americans as Airan Berry and Luke Denman. He continued by saying these were ex Green Beret’s as well and that the state department should help obtain their release.

Maduro suggests that this operation was put under the US Drug Enforcement Agency as an operation. The DEA has denied any involvement. Maduro suggests that they knew everything about the operation. This gives the impression that the operation was infiltrated by Maduro loyalists.

No official response has been given by President Trump or the State Department as of yet. Across social media, many on the left were praising the actions of Venezuela and attacking the US government for it’s involvement.
