Ah, Barbie. The iconic doll hit the shelves in 1959 and has been a hit with girls ever since. According to Time magazine, 92 percent of American girls ages 3 to 12 have owned at least one Barbie.

Barbie creator Ruth Handler described her philosophy as “through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman has choices.”

While many of Barbie’s “choices” through the decades have revolved around her friends and boyfriend-then-husband Ken, that was then and this is now. “Now” as in the Black Lives Matter movement, “systemic racism,” and “White privilege.”

In other words, girls of America and the world, Barbie is now “woke.”

As reported by Fox News, Barbie and her BFF Nikki — a black doll — get into an animated discussion about racism in America in a new video on the Barbie YouTube channel. Who knew?

Barbie says in the video, while seated next to Nikki.

“There is a huge movement going on. Millions of people across the world are standing up to fight against racism, and they’re doing this because too often and for such a long time, people have been treated unfairly, and in some cases even hurt by others, because of the color of their skin.”

Nikki then riffs on the “racism” she has experienced as a black doll.

“Barbie and I had a sticker-selling contest on the beach last month. We split up and went our separate directions to see who could sell the most. While I was on the boardwalk, beach security stopped me three times. The security officer thought I was doing something bad, even though I was doing exactly the same thing that you were doing.”

Oh, please.

Nikki then recalls the time a teacher told her she “got lucky” after acing a French exam, which she explained to Barbie made her not want to join the French honor club. Barbie suggested she should’ve joined the club to “prove [the teacher] wrong, but Nikki disagreed.

“Because I don’t want to constantly prove and reprove myself,” Nikki said.

“He supported you right from the beginning and he didn’t support me. People did these things because I was Black, and they made the wrong assumptions about me.”

Barbie of course was in total agreement:

“And they don’t make those assumptions about White people like me. Because that means that White people get an advantage that they didn’t earn, and Black people get a disadvantage they don’t deserve.”

Kind of a blanket statement, isn’t it? “White people get an advantage that they didn’t earn.” Universally, Barbie?

YouTuber Pretty Savage was all over Barbie’s woke message.

“I will always love barbie vlogs. There have been so many similar types of videos but theirs are truly the best. Barbie is out here talking to kids about mental health, family issues and now systemic racism. I’m a Barbie stan.”

And if you don’t agree with Barbie and Nikki’s assessment of 2020 America? Well, you’re just “ignorant.”

Barbie’s “wokeness” is hardly a surprise, is it?

From Uncle Ben’s rice to Cream of Wheat, to Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup bottles, we now live in the age of hyper-wokeness. Besides, “racism in America” isn’t Barbie’s first foray into “social injustice” in America.

As my RedState colleague, Alex Parker reported in July in an article titled Because Toddlers Demand It: Barbie Unveils Its New Politically Active Doll and Her All-Female Staff,  Mattel unveiled “The Barbie Campaign Team,” featuring a black presidential candidate and all-female staff.

“The Barbie Campaign Team set features four diverse dolls that inspire girls to see themselves in the roles that make up a winning campaign: Candidate, Campaign Manager, Fundraiser and Votee.”

Donald Trump Jr. was not impressed.

“Voter” Barbie must be a Democrat because she’s already wearing an “I Voted” sticker and yet she’s got another ballot in her hand.

No word on where Ken weighs in the issue. Wait — are they still together, or has Barbie been liberated from the bondage of marriage?
