REPORTER: Some liberal friends of yours have talked about adding more justices to counteract what’s going on right now. You dodged Chris Wallace’s question on that last night about packing the courts so let me ask you. Do you support the idea of packing the court?
JOE BIDEN: I’m not dodging the question. What I’m doing is staying focused. You know, and I’m not being critical of you at all, I give you my word, but if I answer the question no matter which way I answer it and that becomes the headline tomorrow. That becomes the headline for the next three years: the presidential nominee says he is going to or not going to do the following.
Instead of focusing on the violations of the principles of the constitution that is going on right now, the focus should stay on the fact that the constitution provides the American public one opportunity to weigh in on lifetime appointments. That’s when they vote for their Senator and when they vote for a president. There’s never been a time when there’s been a nominee that has been named after an election has started.
