During Thursday night’s drive-in town hall with Demcoratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, a number of ridiculous claims were made not just by Biden but also by the CNN “reporters” and “analysts” who were covering what went down.
At one point during the event, Atlantic writer and noted TDS sufferer James Fallows made the following personal observation about Biden’s performance:
I would like the “BIden has dementia” people to watch him on CNN right now, *and* compare him with what they heard from Trump today or anytime recently.
— James Fallows (@JamesFallows) September 18, 2020
This inspired CNN’s resident “fact-checker” Daniel Dale to morph into a spokesman of sorts for the Biden campaign, actually amplifying Fallows’ opinion by praising Biden for “implicitly fact checking Trump by…uttering many consecutive coherent sentences”:
Biden is implicitly fact checking Trump by…uttering many consecutive coherent sentences, which Trump has repeatedly said Biden cannot do. https://t.co/LzS2Bx7ioq

Dale, in turn, was fact-checked by others who pointed out that this was not the “own” against Trump and “win” for Biden he seemed to think it was:
Dude I know you were trying to make a point here, and you did. I just don’t think it’s the one you intended to make. pic.twitter.com/hsTyCemZrx

Welp, you’ve completely changed my mind. Complete sentences? I love me some complete sentences. LOL, ridiculous.

One Biden supporter was not impressed with Dale setting the bar so low:
Ok, but please let’s not have uttering coherent sentences be the new bar for electability. Vote for Biden but let’s not patronize the whole process and the intellect of voters.

On the other hand, was Biden really sounding all that coherent? No:
Extremely coherent! https://t.co/kQwK4OlC9D

This Twitter user won the night:
The fact that you find Biden uttering coherent sentences so important that you have to tweet about it proves Trump’s point completely. https://t.co/ayiihsb70p

“See? I can utter complete sentences! And I’m standing up! What other politician can do those things?”

Memo to CNN: Having the ability to string a few words together to form a “coherent sentence” a few times during a town hall does not a president make. #ProTip
