(CNS News) — In reference to the Netflix-distributed movie “Cuties,” which hyper-sexualizes young teen girls and has been described as “child pornography,” Christine Pelosi, the daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), called on Netflix to “cancel” the film, “apologize” and “work with experts to heal your harm.”
In a Sept. 10 tweet, the Democrat, attorney, and well-known political strategist said, “Hi @netflix, from a customer and former ADA in SFDA’a Child Abuse-Sexual Assault Unit: ‘Cuties’ hypersexualizes girls my daughter’s age no doubt to the delight of pedophiles like the ones I prosecuted. Cancel this, apologize, work with experts to heal your harm. #CancelNetflix.”

Christine Pelosi, 54, is a former Assistant District Attorney (Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit) for the City of San Francisco, and a former Interim Executive Director of the Young Democrats of America.
In a Sept. 11 letter to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) said, Many have raised concerns—which I share— regarding the film’s depiction of the exploitation of young girls’ bodies. In part because of scenes depicting scantily clad children dancing in a sexually suggestive manner….”

“While I have concerns with the movie’s young actresses’ influence on other young girls, my larger concern is with the possibility that the inappropriate scenes might encourage the sexual exploitation of young girls by adults,” said Sen. Lee.
“I understand this film contains a broader storyline; however, the film’s sexualization of young girls — if not itself the sexual exploitation of the child actors–will certainly contribute to child sexual exploitation by others,” wrote Lee. “At a minimum, it is certainly inappropriate and morally wrong to sexualize minors, regardless of whether the depiction is fictional.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), in a letter to Attorney General William P. Barr, said, “I urge the Department of Justice to investigate the production and distribution of this film to determine whether Netflix, its executives, or the individuals involved in the filming and production of “Cuties” violated any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.”
“Although the First Amendment provides vigorous protection for artistic expression, it does not allow individuals or for-profit corporations to produce or distribute child pornography,” wrote the senator.
