This is Edward James. Mr. James was fatally shot on Monday at his Brooklyn church, where he was the beloved caretaker. As you can see, Mr. James was Black. This raises a simple question: Did his life matter?

As reported by the New York Post, Mr. James was shot in the torso, in front of Glorious Church of God, where he selflessly served. The gentle man affectionately known in the neighborhood as “Swaine” was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mr. James’s friends and family told The Post the 62-year-old Christian was a fixture at the church. “He was an icon,” said 72-year-old Ronald Stewart, a deacon. Church musician Darius McNeil added: “He was our family. We may not have been blood, but he was family.”

Witnesses said they heard three shots go off on the usually quiet block.

“We’re just in shock at what happened. This is a quiet area. So to hear something happened here in the church, it’s unbelievable,” said a witness who identified herself only as Mary. “We saw the body on the stretcher, all bloody, a hole in his back. It is sad,” she added.

The suspected shooter, who may have targeted James, according to The Post, is believed to be a man in his 30s who fled the scene on foot, sources said. A motive wasn’t immediately clear.

Again, the question. Did Edward James’s life matter?

More to the point, did Edward James’s Black life matter? Did his Black life matter to Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrat Party? Did his Black life matter to CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times?

Did Edward James’s Black life matter to Black Lives Matter?

One person wasn’t so sure — or maybe he was.

The story of Edward James is just one of many that plays out in Chicago, New York City, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and across America on a daily basis. There is no hysteria in the media. Neither Nancy Pelosi nor Joe Biden trot out to a microphone to condemn “systemic racism,” “police brutality,” or “white privilege/supremacy.”

Moreover — and this is not to diminish any loss of life — Mr. James was not resisting arrest. He was not brandishing or reaching for a weapon. He had not just committed a crime. He was not a threat to anyone. No, he was in front of his beloved church, no doubt doing a bit of whatever a caretaker of a church does. And he was murdered.

Where is the outcry for this Black man?

Where is the outcry in New York City, where black-on-black murder has skyrocketed, as I reported in early August, while Emperor Bill de Blasio cluelessly continues to fiddle?

Where is the outcry in Chicago, as murder of Blacks by other Blacks races out of control, as I reported in early July, while hapless Mayor Lori Lightfoot blames the blood in the streets on COVID?

Where is the outcry in Detroit, where Donald Trump in June said the murder rate “is higher than El Salvador, Guatemala, or even Afghanistan”?

The answer to all four question is there is no outcry. There never was. And there never will be.

Sadly, and coldly, the Black life of Edwards James didn’t matter. Not to the Black Lives Matter narrative, that is. Nor to the narrative of CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and every other left-wing mouthpiece.

And certainly not to Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, whose only narrative is everything is Donald Trump’s fault.

Edward James’s life did matter. If only to his neighborhood, friends, family, and members of his beloved church, of course.
