Charlotte, NC — Admitting you have a problem is the first step in fixing the problem. For journalist Yamiche Alcindor, she needs to face the facts she has an issue. Her tweet last night was gross and disturbing!

Alcindor is one of the most hackish “journalists” currently in the public sphere struck.  She has made a name for herself by continually mixing partisan opinion with her reporting during the Trump era.

She decided it would be a good idea to put words in the mouth of a paraplegic who decided to stand for the National Anthem at the RNC. The man in question is Congressional candidate Madison Cawthorn, who suffered paralysis after a 2014 car accident.

She said, “Madison Cawthorn made it a point to stand, suggesting that all Americans to should stand during the pledge of allegiance & national anthem. It was a direct rebuke of actions by ppl — including black athletes who are currently sitting out games — protesting police brutality.”

“Madison Cawthorn may be paralyzed, but @Yamiche is the one who is a completely broken person. Only a deranged lunatic who worships at the altar of politics could get angry at the sight of a paralyzed person standing up. What a sad, pathetic way to go through life.”

Cawthorn never said anything about rebuking the actions of black athletes who are currently sitting out games, though it’d certainly be within bounds to criticize their actions and hypocrisy. Alcindor is completely making that angle up, putting words in a paraplegic’s mouth because he decided it’s personally important for him to stand for the flag.

Alcindor’s style of assumption and editorializing while claiming she’s reporting objective facts has become more and more prevalent in the mainstream media. You can hardly blame her, though, since it’s earned her more notoriety than she has ever had before.

The PBS reporter even has a book coming out, which explains her recent desire for the spotlight. This mixing of personal ambition and political narratives with journalism has had an incredibly corrosive effect on our discourse.

I’m sure it will be a real page-turner.

Earlier this summer, Alcindor was criticized for attempting to refute President Trump’s claim that protesters who had been destroying statues have no knowledge about the statues they’re destroying.

“Protesters say they understand who the statues commemorate,” she wrote, “and that images of those people–many who owed enslaved people–should be gone.”

Cawthorn was partially paralyzed in a 2014 car accident and uses a wheelchair, closed his speech by urging Americans not to “cower to a mob,” and to “kneel before God but stand for our flag.

In his speech, Madison said, “Be a radical for liberty and be a radical for our republic for which I stand, one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all,” Cawthorn said as he rose from his wheelchair and stood behind a walker.

Rightfully, many people on twitter put her on blast!

How on earth could you possibly turn the rather moving act of a FREAKIN’ PARAPLEGIC rising for the national anthem into some weird BLM trip? When someone holds the door open for you, is that a rebuke of BLM too?My patience for takes like this has reached its limit. https://t.co/p7EZPmzoj8

The activist below found a way to turn a paraplegic standing up in his wheelchair an act of white supremacy https://t.co/UQ8VvmvE7m

Nowhere did Cawthorn state his standing was a “direct rebuke of actions by ppl — including black athletes who are currently sitting out games — protesting police brutality. And Yamiche Alcindor is not a journalist. https://t.co/IybeznJdZ0

Mollie Hemingway, the Senior Editor of The Federalist, said: “If you thought, ‘certainly nobody could attack this man in a wheelchair for standing up at the end of his speech,’ you haven’t met our completely insane White House press corps, currently viciously attacking a paralyzed man for not sharing their far-left political views.”

Alcindor’s partisanship is so strong that she can’t even let go of her narrative long enough to allow a paralyzed man to stand for the anthem. Think about how broken someone must be to reach that point.

It’s a sad indictment of our current journalistic landscape, and Alcindor remains at or near the top of the list when talking about sheer hackishness in reporting the news. That our tax dollars pay some portion of her salary is as good a case as any for fully defunding PBS.
