Democrat Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones appeared as a speaker at Monday’s Republican National Convention and went straight at the heart of the Democrat strategy of making it seem like their opponents were racists.

In a superb speech targeting the Democrat party’s view of the black community as a group of people they mentally own, Jones reminded the American people that he and his fellow black Americans are a free people with free minds.

“You may be wondering, “Why is a lifelong Democrat speaking at the Republican National Convention? That’s a fair question. And here’s your answer: The Democratic Party does not want Black people to leave the mental Plantation they’ve had us on for decades,” said Jones.

“But I have news for them: We are free people with free minds,” he continued. “I am part of a large and growing segment of the Black community who are independent thinkers. And we believe that Donald Trump is the President that America needs to lead us forward.”

Jones went on to compare what the Democrat party has done for the black community, accusing them of doing nothing but “pandering,” while President Donald Trump has built an “inclusive economy” that makes black communities safer, on top of signing a bill to restore funding to historically black colleges.

While Jones did admit to the relationship between the black community and police was tenuous, he pointed to the Democrats as being a party that supports the destruction of not only police but this nation.

“The Democratic Party has become infected with the pandemic of intolerance, bigotry, socialism, anti-law enforcement bias and a dangerous tolerance for people who attack others, destroy property and terrorize our own communities,” he said.

Jones hasn’t exactly been on his own party’s good side since he endorsed Trump for President, especially since his message directly contradicts the one Democrats have been trying to sell. The backlash was so bad that he resigned from his position in April.

State Sen. Nikema Williams, chairwoman of the state Democratic Party called Jones an “embarrassment” back then, adding that he “does not stand for our values.”

“I’ve seen more Democrats attack me for my decision to endorse @realdonaldtrump than ask me why,” tweeted Rep. Vernon Jones. “They’ve used and abused folks in my community for far too long, taking our votes for granted. Black Americans are waking up. An uprising is near.”

Jones clearly hasn’t backed down, however.

Despite all of this, Jones has announced that he will not be leaving the Democrat party as someone needs to be around to hold them accountable.
