Charlotte, NC — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is not happy with how the Democratic National Convention went down. She was given speaking time at the convention, along with other progressive legislators, but she says that the DNC was too white. Specifically, they were targeting white moderates, not minorities.
AOC made the comments during Friday night Instagram posts while she was riding the train back to DC. In her comments, she said, “Do I agree with centering the programming on that audience? Not necessarily. I think we could have done more to rally turnout enthusiasm from our party’s base.”
She also said, “Muslims has zero representation which is just utterly crazy to me. We need the turnout Ilhan and Rashida delivered in their primaries.” AOC was the only one of the squad members that was given a speaking role during the DNC.
AOC has often said that Republicans are a party of white supremacy and that they ignore minorities. Apparently, AOC also feels the same way about her own party. Her comments were pretty direct as she and other progressives felt frustrated after the event. They wanted the focus to be on their progressive policies, not “whites.”
AOC did say she felt some progressive proposals have a potential of passing during a Biden/Harris administration. She said that she felt good about the Green New Deal, a massive spending plan that the progressive liberals have been pushing for some time. While she may feel confident, other statements lead you to believe such a passage may not be so certain.
The leader of the potential Biden transition team said that increased government spending under President Trump may mean that Biden is not as progressive with spending as some would like. Stephanie Kelton reported this on Twitter and AOC was quick to respond. AOC says that without massive investments, the United States will fall apart.

These massive investments, like the Green New Deal, AOC suggests can save the country. On Saturday, she gave one idea of how that might happen as she tweeted about the two hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico. Apparently, the Green New Deal will eliminate hurricanes along with cow farts and airplanes.

The Green New Deal is just one of the insane investments that AOC has suggested that the United States should take on. She, and her “squad” counterparts, have suggested that the United States should engage in endless spending. To consider being fiscally responsible, AOC says that is “utterly irresponsible.”
The US has certainly not been as conservative as I would like under President Trump. We have not attempted to deal with the budget deficit or address our massive national debt. Even still, we cannot afford these ridiculous plans these radical progressives have for our country.
