Milwaukee, WI — In an opening statement ahead of her acceptance speech, Sen. Kamala Harris decided to take to the camera to deliver a message at the opening of the night. In the statement, she said that voting was important and it was important to have a voting plan.
Harris continued by saying that if viewers would text a number, that the Democrats would help them create a voting plan. If you text the number, they will most likely help you fill out the ballot as well, assuring that they receive votes for the Democratic ticket.
This highlights one of the concerns with potential mail-in voting as President Trump has suggested. The Democrats are clearly organized around helping people acquire and fill out their ballots to help secure votes for their candidate. It continues to show that the Democrats are scared of the potential outcome.
Harris will be giving her speech later in the evening on Wednesday night as she is formally nominated as the Vice Presidential nominee for the Democrats. Former President Barack Obama is also slated to speak as the final speaker of the night according to the official schedule.
