When CNN Host Don Lemon claimed that Jesus “was not perfect when he was here on Earth,” former NFL defensive back and Hall of Fame Coach Tony Dungy replied, telling Lemon he is “dead wrong.”

On Monday, Lemon told his “CNN Tonight” audience:

“Jesus Christ, if you believe — if that’s what you believe in, Jesus Christ, admittedly, was not perfect when he was here on this Earth.”

On Thursday, Dungy took to Twitter, telling Lemon that that the everyone who accepts Jesus as savior knows he was perfect during his life on Earth:

“I’m sorry Mr Lemon but just who “admitted” that Jesus Christ was not perfect here on earth?  Not anyone who believes the Bible. Not anyone who trusts in Jesus as their savior. I’m not sure the point you’re making but your premise is dead wrong. That was the point in Jesus coming!”

Responding to multiple Twitter replies disputing that Jesus was perfect, Dungy repeatedly cited a Bible passage:

“The Bible says Jesus has anger but did not sin. ‘For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.’ 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT”

Dungy, was an NFL coach for 13 years following a three-year playing career. He coached the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl victory in 2007 and was inducted into to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2016.
