Washington, DC – On Wednesday, Democrats blocked the Republican proposal for police reform in a procedural vote. The vote, which was proposed by Senate Republicans, was not expected to garner much Democrat support. Two Democrats supported the procedural measure to advance the bill forward.
Democrats across the country were calling for swift action to respond in the wake of recent events. As you know, a good crisis cannot go to waste. Republicans proposed some common-sense measures that would start the movement toward police reform. That’s precisely the problem; it was common-sense.
Democrats want a more senseless measure, like complete defunding of the police. They want to abolish police forces across the country. They want to allow senseless acts and destruction of our country. It’s complete and utter chaos.
While they will claim on the surface to desire action, they failed to act. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the Republican bill was trying to get away with the murder of George Floyd. Those who desire real change should be livid at her response.
This measure was not going as far as Democrats would have liked, but it was a start. It was a chance to make a difference, but the Democrats do not want to make a difference. They want more government and more control.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) ripped the move, accusing Democrats of attempting to kick the can down the road until after the election. He is correct. Democrats want to have another means to attack Republicans and Trump ahead of the election.
They realize without the excitement behind Joe Biden; they need to nearly incite a race war to win this election. No one is excited about Biden. They may not like Trump, but they certainly do not embrace the dementia-ridden Democrat.
So the only tactic remaining is to play politics with the American emotions. This is exactly what the Democrats are doing. They are not interested in real change. They are only interested in winning control. This move proves just that.
