Lansing, M.I. – Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans are looking for leadership. As a nation, we have found that in President Trump. The Gallup Poll released Tuesday saw his support jump by five points, to 49 percent — with 60 percent in favor of his handling of the ongoing crisis. Other surveys showed even more significant surges. From California to Louisiana, New York to Washington, Democratic-state leadership has been disastrous and led to an increase in both coronavirus deaths and infections.
As citizens across the country find themselves confined to their homes over COVID-19, President Trump, and other members of the “Coronavirus Task Force,” are speaking daily to the American People. Through decisive action, amid preposterous questioning by Liberal members of the mainstream media, our President has successfully guided our country during these hellish past few weeks. However, in typical fashion, Democratic governors and state legislators are taking a time of much-needed resolve and solidarity, to yet again attempt to politicize President Trump and his efforts.
Governors across the country have repeatedly called on Trump to use the Defense Production Act to force private companies to manufacture life-saving medical supplies, including protective hospital masks and ventilators. Governors have also clashed with Trump about state-imposed lock-downs and travel bans.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on Friday, pushed back on President Trump‘s assertion that his state does not need thousands of more ventilators to fight the coronavirus outbreak there, saying, “I operate on facts.” Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion, but I don’t operate here on opinion, I operate on facts and data and numbers and projections,” Cuomo said when asked about Trump’s comments the previous night. According to the New York governor, the state is in dire need of 30,000 – 40,000 ventilators in its effort to preserve the lives of those infected by the coronavirus.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has blasted President Trump for not taking the pandemic seriously, saying the city was given ‘no red flag’ from federal agencies to cancel its Mardi Gras celebrations. According to the mayor, “Trump’s inaction is to blame for making Louisiana the future US epicenter for coronavirus.” Louisiana sees the fastest growth rate of anywhere in the world, with more than 2,300 people testing positive for COVID-19, and 83 people have died in the two and a half weeks since its first patient on March 9 – a daily growth rate of 65 percent.
The dispute between Trump and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, which has played out across Twitter, cable news, and radio airwaves, caused the President to return fire during his Friday “Task Force” press conference. During his daily meeting, Trump directed Vice President Pence not to call governors who aren’t “appreciative” of his efforts. Whitmer — a first-term governor who in February delivered the Democrats’ response to Trump’s State of the Union address — charged in an interview Friday morning that Trump’s actions have prevented her state from getting the equipment it needs.
Across the country, Liberal “do-nothing” local and state legislators refuse to accept responsibility for their “inactions” and how they have failed to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Repeatedly, Trump has insisted that the federal government is not responsible for every action against this virus. However, in the face of adversity, it is apparent that Democratic legislators, large and small, lack either the intelligence or the initiative to protect their citizens.
In this dire time for OUR DEMOCRACY, we are thankful to have a commander-in-chief is who has the desire and determination to preserve and protect the lives, liberty, and financial stability of our nation!
