Charlotte, NC – President Trump announced on Twitter that he has signed an executive order to protect American monuments, memorials, and statues. The order comes as countless statues across the country have been toppled or defaced amid riots.
As the statement indicates, Trump is looking for prison terms and stiff punishments for those who attempt to enact violence against these historical markers. Across the country, numerous governors have allowed statues and monuments to be toppled amid the protests without much recourse.
The order was just one of the executive orders signed by President Trump on Friday. He also signed an executive order that addresses the assessment and hiring of federal workers and an order that extends the American Workforce Advisory Board.
